The EVA is a body that caters to any veterinarian or veterinary student that has an interest in treating and examining horses. As Australia's largest professional group dedicated to equine veterinary medicine, the EVA is comprised of over 800 veterinarians and veterinary students from all types of practices, joined together with a shared goal - to improve the health and welfare of the horse.
Membership is open to all graduates from a college or school of veterinary medicine.
Equine Veterinarians Australia are committed to helping students succeed in the equine veterinary world by providing many of the tools they will need to become an outstanding equine practitioners, scientists or leaders in the profession.
EVA student membership is open to students enrolled in Australian college's or schools of veterinary medicine.

Please note: That to be a member of the EVA, membership of the Australian Veterinary Association is required also.
New Graduates and Veterinary students are both able to join the AVA and the EVA at a reduced rates.
The fees for AVA membership vary depending upon which Branch (State) you live in.
However, the fee for EVA Full Membership is fixed at $185.00 per year and only $35.00 per year for student members.

For your information, below are the definitions of the member categories within the Australian Veterinary Association Ltd as set out in the AVA Constitution.
5 - AVA and EVA Membership Rules
5.1 Notwithstanding the provision of this Constitution, all those who have been recipients of the award of Honary Fellows, Honary Associate Members and Life Fellows shall retain that status and continue to enjoy the benefits of that status.
5.2 There shall be three (3) categories of Members of the Association whose annual subscription (if any) includes membersship of the Australian Veterinary Association Limited and of the Division in which the Member is domiciled:
(1) FULL MEMBERS shall hold a qualification in Veterinary Science that is registrable in Australia.
(2) LIFE MEMBERS shall have been full Members of the Association in the aggregate for not less than thirty (30) years and be retired from full-time employment.
(3) STUDENT MEMBERS shall be veterinary students enrolled in a faculty of Veterinary Science at a university in Australia. Student Members shall have all the privileges and liabilities of Membership except those of voting and holding office. A student Member shall, upon graduation with a registrable degree in veterinary science, and upon payment of a subscription as determined by the Board from time to time, become a full Member of the Association without needing to complete an application for membership.
5.3 There shall be three (3) categories of Members of the Association whose annual subscription (if any) includes membersship of the Australian Veterinary Association Limited (but who are not required to make application to be a Member of the Division in the area in which the Member is domiciled or pay the additional Divisional subscription unless they elect to do so):
(4) OVERSEAS MEMBERS shall meet the eligibility requirements to be admitted as Full Members of the Australian Veterinary Association and be living outside the Commonwealth of Australia. Overseas Members shall have all the privileges and liabilities of membership except those of holding office. OVERSEAS MEMBERSHIP (ONLINE DISCOUNT) is offered to Overseas Members who want to maintian their membership to the AVA but do not wish to receive a hard copy of the AVJ or have access to the AVA Members HR Advisory Service.
(5) ASSOCIATE MEMBERS shall be persons who either hold a veterinary qualification that is not registrable in Australia but whose qualification comes from a veterinary school listed in the World Health Organisation Directory of Veterinary Schools, or persons not possessing veterinary qualifications who are deemed by the Board, after nomination by a Division or a Special Interest Group, to be eligible for election as Associate Members by reason of their professional attainments and close association with the veterinary profession. Associate Members shall have all the privileges and liabilities of membership except for those of voting and holding office.
(6) HONORARY MEMBERS are eminent non-veterinarians who have rendered service to the Association or the veterinary profession in general. Such Honorary Members shall have all the privileges and liabilities of membership except those of voting and holding office.
5.4 All six (6) categories of Members of the Associationmay make applications for membership of one or more of the Association's Special Interest Group. Only those persons who are Members of the Association may join Special Interest Groups, Divisions and Branches.
5.5 AFFILIATES shall be non-veterinarians who wish to attend meetings and/or receive publications of the Association and/or its constituent bodies. Names of all Affiliates shall be held on the AVA non-member Register.
